Future Plans

Eagles view offers a lovely outdoor workshop space and the best view in the whole place. We want to add a better floor and a large wooden roof to make the space more comfortable and possible to use in all weather!

There is a multistage project planned to enable us to offer better care to the animals we receive.

Who dosen’t love a treehouse? The plan for the area around Hazel Lodge is to have a multileveled space and network of aerial pathways to reach the different bits of accommodation and as part of this village we will build 2 treehouses that sleep 2 people each.

Whilst we do currently have a sauna and cold plunge as well as spaces that can be used as treatment rooms. We want to add a facility that is made with natural materials that house a large steam room, dedicated treatment rooms with massage equipment and a natural rock and stone hot tub

We plan to build a natural pool / pond with natural filtration and no chemicals. Because we are on a mountainside and terracing is hard work it’s likely to be long and thin! We want to build this partly because of the relaxing properties of water but also for all the ecological benefits to the surrounding flora and fauna.

Parking has been an issue in the past for visitors and volunteers. This coming year we will add 7 more parking spaces to help make life a little easier for everyone.

We are planning to make a large lofted aviary for Chickens / pheasants / peacocks / guinea fowl in the grounds of Hazel Lodge

Recruit a full time vet and veterinary nurse to the staff. Whilst we are not currently able to finance this if you are a vet who has a good depth of knowledge in wildlife care and would be interested in consulting with us on an ad hoc voluntary basis until we can secure the funding for a full time position please do contact us. vet@biokovinawild.com

We really care about our local extended community and want to help make the lives of our neighbours a little easier wherever possible. We are waiting to establish whether the starlink service is stably available in Bosnia. Once we determine it’s stable we plan to offer free wifi to everyone in the village.

Every year for Ramadan an Imam comes to stay in the village to facilitate people’s prayers. There is a destroyed building next to the mosque and it’s our intention to rebuild this space. As a library for the local community and accommodation for the Imam when he visits during Ramadan.

There has been a shortage of water in the summer months in recent years. We are working closely with community leaders to secure a new spring water supply for the benefit of the whole village.

Whilst we believe on the principals of permaculture we are still open to exploring modern growing techniques. We plan to build a fully automated and fully environmentally controlled greenhouse to provide crop security in years where there are challenging weather events. And to allow us to experiment with plants that might not naturally grow within our hardiness zone.

Beyond what we have already shared there are several other pieces of land that can be developed. This year we will explore all these spaces and determine the optimum strategy for them based on the needs of the community.

We have most important life / survival skills already represented in the community – electrician / plumber / carpenter / farmer / builder / chef / mechanic / musician / teacher etc. But one thing we are missing is a skilled metal worker and metal workshop.
